The organizing committee welcomes the submission of abstracts for presentation at the IV Cross border congress on climate and coastal change that will be held on 4th and 5th novembre, 2020.

Key dates

  • 2020/02/25: Opening for abstract submission
  • 2020/05/05: Abstract submission deadline. Extended deadline
  • Notification of abstract acceptance/rejection by 26/05
  • 2020/07/21: Early registration fee deadline

Abstract submission guidelines

  • Abstract submission languages: Spanish, English, French and Basque
  • Length: the length of the abstract should not exceed 500 words
  • Presentation format: Authors can submit abstracts for oral communication or poster presentation
  • Abstracts must be work that has not been submitted for publication.
  • Authors: At least one of the authors or coauthors of the abstract must register in the Congress. A maximum of two abstract per registration is permitted.
  • The program will include poster sessions.
  • Scope: the congress is focused on the Atlantic Europe but papers on countries outside the Atlantic Arc will be accepted if they are of interest

      • Risks arising from global warming above 1.5º C
      • The new IPCC report on oceans and cryosphere
      • Resilience and impacts on human activities, ecosystems and their services, and biodiversity
      • What the past teaches us: paleoclimatic archives

    • Track 2: Extreme events and adaptation measures
      • Extreme wave, storm, tidal, flood, epidemic, heat wave, risk management
      • Challenges in assessing the contribution of climate change to extreme events
      • Climate observatory networks and innovative monitoring instrumentation
      • Effects and damage to beaches, ports, critical infrastructure and urban areas
      • Vulnerability, coastline exposure, actions and adaptation strategies

    • Track 3: Blue Carbon and Climate Change Mitigation
      • Blue carbon: A hidden asset in the sea
      • Decarbonisation of the blue economy
      • Circular Economy
      • Economic evaluations
      • Mitigating climate change on the coast

    • Track 4: Governance and management tools
      • Integrated coastal area management and marine spatial planning
      • Ecosystem-based management and nature-based solutions
      • Early alert and decision making tools
      • Climate action plans and programmes on the coast
      • Communication, perception and citizen participation

Publication of abstracts in the Marine Research Journal (RIM) and in the Spanish Journal of Agricultural and Fisheries Studies (REEAP)
