The organizing committee welcomes the submission of abstracts for presentation at the V Cross border congress on climate and coastal change that will be held on 16th and 17th novembre, 2022.

  • 2022/03/15: Opening for abstract submission
  • 2022/05/20: Abstract submission deadline.
  • Notification of abstract acceptance/rejection by 14/06
  • 2022/09/15: Early registration fee deadline

Abstract submission guidelines

  • Abstract submission languages: Spanish, English, French and Basque
  • Length: the length of the abstract should not exceed 500 words
  • Presentation format: Authors can submit abstracts for oral communication or poster presentation
  • Abstracts must be work that has not been submitted for publication.
  • Authors: At least one of the authors or coauthors of the abstract must register in the Congress. A maximum of two abstract per registration is permitted.
  • The program will include poster sessions.
  • Scope: the congress is focused on the Atlantic Europe but papers on countries outside the Atlantic Arc will be accepted if they are of interest

      • Climate scenarios: from global to local
      • Physical science basis of climate change
      • What the past teaches us: Monitoring and paleoclimatic archives
      • Resilience and impacts on human activities, ecosystems and their services and biodiversity

    • Session 2: Extreme events and adaptation measures
      • Extreme waves, storms, meteorological tides, floods, outbreaks, heatwaves, risk management
      • Challenges for assessing the contribution of climate change to extreme events
      • Climate observatory networks and innovative monitoring instruments
      • Damages and solutions for beaches, ports, critical infrastructures and urban areas
      • Vulnerability, coastal exposure, adaptation measures and strategies

    • Session 3: Mitigating climate change and restoring biodiversity
      • Climate emergency and biodiversity emergency
      • Trends and balance in greenhouse gases emissions
      • The challenge of climate neutrality in 2030 and the climate summit commitments
      • Blue carbon: A hidden good under the sea
      • Decarbonising the blue economy
      • The circular economy and economic assessments
      • Mitigating coastal climate change

      • Integrated management of coastal areas and marine spatial planning

Only abstracts submitted before 10th, May 2022 will be accepted
